Welcome to The Black Angus Grille, a unique restaurant located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Bobby Mageras, the current chef/proprietor arrived in Williamsburg in 1993 after an internship at the Bay Colony Club in Naples, Florida, and graduation from the Culinary Institute of America, the finest culinary academy in the world. The restaurant name at the current location of, 1433 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, Virginia, was at that time called The Prime Rib House and remained so named until the Spring of 2005.
Many people have questioned the name change because The Prime Rib House had been recognized as one of the most consistent steak and seafood houses in the region. Bobby Mageras made the decision to change the name because potential customers had the perception that the restaurant was either a buffet operation, All You Can Eat prime rib house or an a la carte steakhouse with no menu variety. The name change to Black Angus Grille is more indicative of the casual upscale atmosphere with a centrally located fireplace and warm color tones that is more like a domestic dining room than that of a restaurant. The name change also reflects the upgraded selection of beef from Choice to Black Angus Reserve Beef, a more superior brand of beef, and a variety of fresh seafood and poultry menu items that are grilled over open flame or pan-seared for ultimate flavor and succulence.
